Any proceeds from the evening will go towards projects, such as our befriending scheme, to reach local older people who are suffering from loneliness and to reduce their social isolation to make their lives better.  If you'd like to see what difference befriending can make please take a moment and click here to watch the video clip of Jean's story.

When is the last date for ticket purchases?

The last day to purchase tickets is Wednesday 31st October. This gives us a chance to organise the seating and pull all the menu choices and special requirements together.

I would like to sit next to my friends/colleagues, how do I arrange that?

No problem, just let us know when you book, or before Wednesday 31st October and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Can children attend the ball?

Because of the timing and nature of the event, children below the age of 18 years will not be admitted into the ball.

Can I book a table before I have the names of all my guests?

Yes!  Please let us know the names of your guests as soon as possible.  We will need to get their menu choices.

What is on the menu?

Visit the Menu page to view the options for your delicious three course meal.

Can special diets and allergies be catered for?

Yes, after you have booked we will be in touch for your menu choices and to ask about any special dietary requirements.  Please get in touch before Wednesday 31st October to let us know of your special requirements.

What should I wear?

Whatever you like!  Usually the majority of attendees use the Ball as an opportunity to get dressed up in dinner suits and dresses.  To celebrate our 70 years of bringing colour to older peoples lives we will be offering a free welcome drink to anyone who comes dressed in a colour from the Age UK Somerset logo!

Where and what is Rookery Manor?

Rookery Manor is a 16th Century Manor House with award winning gardens.

Recently new purpose built function rooms have been added, such as the Desborough Suite where our Ball is being held.  The Desborough Suite is on the site of a historic barn and has an indoor marquee theme.

This great venue  has been chosen as it is a very central location for most of Somerset and North Somerset - close to the M5 and near to Brent Knoll and Weston super Mare. It is down a quiet road off the A370 at  Edingworth, near Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, BS24 0JB. When you reach the venue you will see there are several entrances – take the one with the electric gates!  Parking is free of charge.

How can I get to the Ball?

Berrys Coaches will be providing return transport from Somerset’s major towns for a small additional cost.  You can book this at the same time as your tickets.

Otherwise I use the Rome2Rio website to look at transport options.

Is there accommodation nearby?

Accommodation is available at the venue or there are a number of places close by.

I've heard of The Presidents Ball - will it be anything like that?
